§ 10-354. Application and approval of building official; required fee.

  • (a)

    Any sponsor of a teenage dance to be conducted within the city shall, within not less than 30 days prior to the date of such dance, register the dance with the building official. Such registration and application shall be upon application forms furnished by the building official showing the following information:

    (1)

    The address of the dancehall where the teenage dance will be conducted.

    (2)

    The name and address of the sponsor.

    (3)

    The names and addresses of not less than six supervisors who shall be in attendance at the dance.

    (4)

    The name of the special police officer who shall be in attendance at the dance.

    (5)

    The maximum occupancy of the facility where the teenage dance is to be conducted and the expected attendance.

    (b)

    It shall be the duty of the building official of the city to furnish to the police department a duplicate copy of the application form within 20 days prior to the date of such teenage dance, and to notify the chief of the fire department of the time and place of each dance.

    (c)

    No person shall conduct a teenage dance which has been prohibited by the building official where it is determined that the dance is scheduled to be held in a dancehall that is unsafe, is a fire hazard, does not provide sufficient sanitary facilities, or is insufficient in size for the capacity of those in attendance, or for any reason is held under the city fire code or building code by the fire marshal or building official of the city to be unsafe or hazardous as a place for the conducting of a teenage dance.

    (d)

    The application shall be accompanied by a fee for purposes of processing the application. The city council shall establish the application fee by separate resolution. The applicant shall also be required to submit a Florida Department of Law Enforcement Criminal History Information Report obtained from the Ocala Police Department at the applicant's request and expense. This Criminal History Information Report shall be made available to the Ocala Police Department for its review.
