§ 74-151. Authority to grant franchise.

The city council may grant the authority, right and nonexclusive privilege to establish, maintain and operate over and upon the streets of the city, and in the suburban territory adjacent thereto, as such area is now exempted from the operation of state law, or as such area has heretofore or may hereafter be excluded in any amendment to such state law, a motorbus transportation system for the transportation of passengers for compensation over defined routes and with regular schedules for a period of five years from and after the effective date of a duly adopted ordinance providing for such franchise, the enjoyment and exercise of the right thereby granted to be at all times in conformity with and subject to all the provisions, terms and conditions set forth in this article.
