§ 22-92. Application; issuance.

  • (a)

    Application for a permit required by this division shall be in a form and manner prescribed by the building official and submitted to the building official, together with the required fee in cash or negotiable check made payable to the city and a Florida Department of Law Enforcement Criminal History Information Report obtained from the Ocala Police Department at the applicant's request and expense.

    (b)

    Upon submission of the application in proper form, the building official shall, within a reasonable period, cause the applicant to be photographed and fingerprinted with police department facilities. The police department shall conduct an investigation of the applicant.

    (c)

    Within a period of 30 days after submission of the application, the building official shall grant the permit unless the investigation reveals any of the following:

    (1)

    The applicant is not a U.S. citizen and a resident of this state;

    (2)

    The character or reputation of the applicant is determined to be dangerous to the safety or general welfare of the community; or

    (3)

    The applicant has been convicted of any felony or crime involving moral turpitude; in which cases the application is to be denied by the building official.
