§ 34-151. Screening of storage areas for junked vehicles and equipment.

  • (a)

    In any area of the city where zoning regulations and ordinances shall permit the out-of-door storage or display of any wrecked, dismantled or junked motor vehicle, trailer, tractor or heavy duty machinery, such storage area shall be screened by a vegetative evergreen hedge, solid fence or masonry wall not less than seven feet in height, the effect of which will completely obstruct the view of the area from any adjacent street.

    (b)

    It shall be unlawful for the owner of any premises or the operator of any automotive wrecker, repair service, or new or used car sales business to display, maintain or keep upon the premises of such business any wrecked, junked or partially dismantled motor vehicle, trailer, tractor or heavy duty machinery in excess of 72 hours unless the vehicle or machinery is enclosed or screened as provided in subsection (a) of this section.

    (c)

    The owner of the premises and the operator of any business conducted upon such premises who shall be found guilty of violating the provisions of this section shall be punished as provided in section 1-9.
