§ 18-31. Establishment; membership criteria, terms, size and quorum.

  • (a)

    There shall be an airport advisory board of the city composed of not more than five members, with annually appointed overlapping four year terms. Members of the board shall be appointed by the city council for a term of four years from the date of appointment. Each member of the city council shall be responsible to nominate one qualified person for appointment as a member of the airport advisory board upon the advice and consent of the city council. Appointed board members must be legal residents of Marion County and possess one or more of the following qualifications: (1) own real property within the city; (2) reside within the city; (3) own a business within the city; or (4) have a vested interest within the city.

    (b)

    The members of the board shall elect a chairman and vice-chairman, who shall be voting members from among the members of the board, and who shall each serve terms of one year, but may be re-elected. The presence of four or more members shall constitute a quorum of the board. If at any meeting or hearing the chairman and vice-president do not appear, the members present shall select one of their number to serve as acting chairman for the purposes of that meeting or hearing. Members shall serve without compensation, but may be reimbursed for such travel, mileage and per diem expenses as may be authorized by the local governing body, or as otherwise provided by law.
