§ 118-81. Fees for tree removal permits.

  • (a)

    Payment of permit fees shall be made through the building department before tree removal permits will be issued.

    (b)

    City council shall establish by separate resolution a minimum fee schedule for any project needing a tree removal permit and/or a site grading permit. The fee schedule shall be maintained at the building and planning departments.

    (c)

    The following tree removal permits, while required before trees are removed, will be issued without charge:

    (1)

    G-U tree removal permits for property owned or controlled by the city or other governmental entity within the city limits or an interlocally agreed-upon area of joint planning.

    (2)

    Tree removal permits to remove trees killed or significantly damaged, to the extent their continued survival is unlikely in the opinion of the county forester or similar professional, by disease, insects, lightning, fire, wind, old age or other acts of God.

    (3)

    Tree removal permits to remove trees that endanger health or safety when authorized by the director of building, zoning and licensing.

    (4)

    Tree removal permits for individual parcels of record greater than three acres in size in an R-1 zoning district for single-family residential use when the house will be the principal residence of the owner-builder.

    (5)

    Personal consumption tree removal permits that allow a property owner to harvest trees for firewood or arts and crafts uses.

    (6)

    Tree removal permits to remove trees designated as nuisance species as defined in this article.
